Today's govenment is a great deal sneakier than it was 15 years ago. The laws of today would have been unthought of back then. Years ago they tried to abolished smoking in one fail swoop. The president of the time.....i forget who it was, was told to recind the laws if he wished to keep his job, or his country. The people of the US would not stand for such a loss of rights in a single blow. As you see if your a smoker, the laws are now almost there now. This time they came in steps. Slipping together in small doses. They were set so as not to cause too much of an uproar at any one time. Fifteen years ago you could eat a big mac and then light up a cigarrette without getting out of your chair. You could even light up a cigarette between classes at school. Now you have to be 10 feet away from the entrance of any resteraunt to be able to smoke, and if you have a kid ,in arkansas, you will get a ticket for smoking while they are in the car with you. Ten years ago, the idea of suing someone for insulting you or talking bad about you was a joke. Now it is called deflamation of character and is done frequently. The honor is gone....in society as well as government. But the way they set up the laws is very intellegent. You make small changes and the people adapt instead of revolt. The question is however, how far are we willing to adapt? When will the laws they set up take away too much from us? Will we realize the problem before or after we have a nation wide curfew, and id badges we must show at every mile. Am I wrong in my thoughts? Am I just paranoid? Or are we really losing our rights in a slow calculating manner til the government is no longer Democratic but a kind of Tyrannical Republic? I don't know. I am just going by the comparison of the years I have lived through. I may be wrong, but as of this moment I still have the right to show my beliefs. With luck I will continue to have those rights.
